AttNet Calls
AttNet is the telecommunications network installed and maintained by the State
of Alabama. It is also subsidized by the State; thus, calls placed on this
network are to be business-related calls only. Students and patients are
restricted from using this network. Since the calls placed on this network are
charged on a per call basis (currently $.04) rather than per minute, this is
the suggested method for making calls within Alabama.
The procedure for dialing on the AttNet system is as follows:
-
For state agencies, Universities, etc., dial 8 + 7-digit AttNet number (For the
correct AttNet number, please consult the AttNet Directory).
-
For the North and East regions of Alabama, dial 8 + 1 + 256 + 7-digit Number.
-
For the Central regions of Alabama, dial 8 + 1 + 205 + 7-digit number.
-
Montgomery and areas south, dial 8 + 1 + 334 + 7-digit number.

Departments are responsible for purchasing these specialized handsets, but the
amplified handsets are provided to patients free of charge. Departments may
contact the Telecommunication Services Applications Department at 4-0503 for
details, and patients need to notify the Nursing Unit, Medical Social Services
(4-4737), or Patient Representative (4-2273) of their need for an amplified
handset.
Authorization Codes
Authorization codes are available for individuals within departments needing to
place long distance calls on restricted telephone lines. These, authorization
codes are specific to a telephone number. Authorization codes are also used as
an alternate billing method (i.e., your lines are charged to your department,

authorization codes, please contact the Telecommunication Services Business
Office at 4-0000.
To make calls with an authorization code, use one of the following methods.

president in order to have this equipment charged to your departmental account.
Just call the Telecommunication Services Business Office at 4-1527 for the
approval form and details. We will gladly assist you with your selection,
purchase, and training.
